Morning walkers and commuters experienced better weather conditions due to the improvement of the air quality, making them feel comfortable about their surroundings after experiencing severe air pollution levels.

According to the CPCB data, the air quality measurements from the past week showed that Delhi-NCR communities experienced 'very poor' air quality, which created health risks and forced residents to stay indoors.

Morning readings show improvement

The 7 am pollution measurements showed that multiple monitoring stations experienced reduced pollution levels, which enabled some locations to achieve moderate air quality status.

CPCB attributes improvement to weather conditions

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data shows that the AQI measurements in Delhi-NCR currently show fluctuations that have improved with today's favourable weather conditions, including clear skies and improved pollutant dispersion.

Different areas of Delhi experienced different levels of pollution. Anand Vihar maintained its high pollution level with an AQI measurement of 289, raising concern over the ongoing pollution problems in eastern Delhi.

Burari Crossing experienced a better AQI measurement of 117, which provided north Delhi residents with improved air quality.

IGI Airport (Terminal 3) reported an AQI of 177, while ITO stood at 210. R K Puram and Rohini recorded AQI levels of 258 and 255, respectively, which remained within the 'poor' range but showed betterment from their earlier values.

Alipur recorded an AQI of 227, and Chandni Chowk stood at 192, which showed a gradual decline of pollution levels.

Haryana and Uttar Pradesh also see improvement

Haryana also witnessed a similar trend. Nathu Colony in Ballabgarh recorded an AQI of 269, while Sector 11 in Faridabad reported 193. Gurugram’s NISE Gwal Pahari station recorded cleaner air conditions with an AQI measurement of 136.

Karnal Sector-12 achieved an AQI measurement of 108, which categorised the area into the moderate air quality range. The AQI measurement in Manesar Sector-2 IMT reached 197, which showed progress for air quality.

The positive transformation occurred in Uttar Pradesh locations. Indirapuram in Ghaziabad recorded an AQI of 197.

The Sector-62 area of Noida achieved a 152 reading, which represented positive results for the area. The Sector-116 area of Noida achieved a 191 reading. The western part of Uttar Pradesh recorded cleaner air in New Mandi Muzaffarnagar which achieved an AQI of 118, while Pallavpuram Phase-2 in Meerut stood at 184.

CPCB officials noted that certain regions of the national capital have reached the 'moderate' level, while some continue to show 'poor' conditions.

Experts warn that permanent improvement will require both stable weather conditions and ongoing enforcement of control measures.

The region is currently experiencing a temporary break from 'severe' air pollution due to the improved air quality.
