The maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to be 23 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is expected to be 10 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted foggy conditions today.
Day temperatures are likely to rise gradually in Tamil Nadu in the coming days, with the regional meteorological department forecasting an increase of up to 2 degrees Celsius above normal levels by February 11. The weather is likely to remain largely dry in the state and neighbouring Puducherry, and no significant rainfall is forecast for at least a week.
According to officials, the current weather pattern indicates stable and dry atmospheric conditions, which will contribute to a steady rise in maximum temperatures. Although the day is likely to be warmer than normal, dense fog will prevail in many districts during the morning. The department has issued an advisory saying that at least nine districts are likely to experience moderate fog and mist in the early morning hours.
These include the hill district of Nilgiris and interior regions such as Dindigul, Salem, Erode and Krishnagiri. Fog is also likely to persist in Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Vellore and Ranipet districts.
Chennai is expected to experience partly cloudy skies for the next few days. Light fog is expected in the morning, before becoming hot and humid as the day progresses. Like most parts of the state, the city will also not receive any rainfall during this period. Meteorologists said the region is dominated by dry continental winds due to the absence of active weather systems like low-pressure areas or cyclonic circulation. This has limited cloud formation and rainfall, while day temperatures have gradually increased.
