Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to boosting Mumbai’s infrastructure and improving the “Ease of Living” as he prepares to inaugurate Phase-1 of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and the Mumbai Metro Line-3.
The ceremony is scheduled for around 3:30 pm, where the prime minister will not only inaugurate the airport and metro line but also launch “Mumbai One”, which is an Integrated Common Mobility App that will bring together 11 public transport operators (PTOs). 
These include Mumbai Metro Line 2A &amp; 7, Mumbai Metro Line 3, Mumbai Metro Line 1, Mumbai Monorail, Navi Mumbai Metro, Mumbai Suburban Railway, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), Thane Municipal Transport, Mira Bhayander Municipal Transport, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Transport, and Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport.

<h2>Navi Mumbai Airport: India’s largest greenfield project</h2>
Phase-1 of NMIA, developed at an estimated cost of Rs 19,650 crore, will be inaugurated in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of transforming India into a global aviation hub.er
The project is India’s largest greenfield airport developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. As the second international airport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, NMIA will work alongside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to reduce congestion and place Mumbai among the select global cities with multi-airport systems.
Spread across 1,160 hectares, NMIA is designed to handle up to 90 million passengers annually and 3.25 million metric tonnes of cargo. Among its features are an Automated People Mover (APM) system for inter-terminal transfers, a landside APM connecting city-side infrastructure, and India’s first airport to be linked to a Water Taxi service.
The project has been designed with sustainability in mind, with storage for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), nearly 47 MW of solar power generation, and electric bus services for city-wide connectivity.

<h2>Mumbai Metro Line-3: A leap in urban mobility</h2>
Alongside the airport, PM Modi will also inaugurate Phase-2B of the Mumbai Metro Line-3, stretching from Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade, built at a cost of Rs 12,200 crore.
With this, the entire Mumbai Metro Line-3 (Aqua Line) – constructed at a total cost of over Rs 37,270 crore – will be dedicated to the nation. The 33.5 km corridor is Mumbai’s first fully underground metro line and is expected to redefine daily commuting by offering faster, efficient, and eco-friendly transport options.
The Aqua Line will ease pressure on Mumbai’s road and suburban rail networks, while also significantly cutting travel times for millions of commuters across the city.
