The explosion occurred around 7 pm on November 10 near the Red Fort metro station in Old Delhi, when a car stopped at a traffic signal and detonated with a loud blast. The impact damaged nearby vehicles and left several bystanders injured. Preliminary findings suggest the use of improvised explosives, though officials have not confirmed the exact nature of the device.

Investigators from central agencies are assisting Delhi Police under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
