What is the BRPL fan replacement scheme?

The BRPL Fan Replacement Scheme allows eligible domestic consumers to exchange old conventional ceiling fans for new BEE 5-star rated BLDC fans at heavily discounted prices.

Under the scheme, customers can replace up to three fans on a first-come, first-served basis, BRPL claims. Installation and dismantling of old fans are also included under the programme. The scheme is available for existing BRPL consumers in South and West Delhi.

Registration through the online BRPL DSM Portal:

  • i) Visit the official BRPL website.
  • ii) Select "FAN Replacement Scheme" under the "WHAT’S NEW" Tab.
  • iii) Now click the "Click here for registration" tab below the "Scheme Flyer"

  • v) For first-time registration on the BRPL DSM Portal, consumers have to input their details such as “Name, CA No, Email, Mobile” for registration and click the Register Button by selecting DISCOM as “BRPL”.
  • vi) An OTP will be sent to the given mobile number during the registration process to complete the registration.
  • vii) Once Registration is completed, consumers can log in directly to the DSM portal and follow these steps to complete their request for a new fan
  • a. Please click on “BRPL FAN Replacement Scheme” on the login page. You shall be rerouted to the registration page.
  • b. Please enter the alternate mobile number in Section A. Updating the alternate mobile number is compulsory to complete the registration process.
  • c. Select the required make, type and model of BLDC FAN.
  • d. Upload necessary documents like registered consumer identity proof issued by the Government, and click the submit button after accepting "Terms and Conditions under FAN Replacement Scheme”.
  • e. After clicking the submit button, a Registration Number will be generated.

What is BLDC technology?

The fan replacement scheme is built around BLDC, which stands for Brushless Direct Current technology. These fans are designed to use less electricity than conventional ceiling fans.

According to information shared by BRPL, consumers may save up to 169 units of electricity annually on each fan, which could translate into savings of around Rs 1,118 a year, depending on usage and power tariffs.

BRPL says the cost of switching to a BLDC fan can typically be recovered through electricity bill savings over a period of 9 to 18 months.

Which brands are available?

The current scheme includes fan models from brands such as Atomberg, Halonix, Adhunik and Kuhl. The final price payable by consumers varies depending on the model selected. Documents available on the BRPL website show some eligible models being offered at prices ranging from below Rs 1,000 to around Rs 1,650 after discounts and exchange benefits.

Important Disclaimer for Consumers

BRPL has issued an important disclaimer regarding the programme. According to the utility, it does not endorse the quality, performance or claims made by fan manufacturers participating in the scheme. BRPL has clarified that manufacturers alone will be responsible for product quality, warranty obligations and after-sales service.

The utility has stated that any defects, deficiencies in service or performance-related issues will be the responsibility of the respective manufacturer and not BRPL.

"BRPL in no manner endorses the quality, performance of the BLDC FAN or manufacturer's claims on the product under the BRPL FAN Replacement scheme. The manufacturer shall be solely
responsible in case of any defect/deficiencies in after sale services or in the product quality or performance availed under the scheme," said the website.
