The ongoing nationwide lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic has forced the entertainment world to change plans too. The problem which started in China in December last year has created problems for businesses across sectors.
Amid the lockdown, the cinema halls and multiplexes have been closed since 25 March when the nationwide lockdown was ordered by the government. Bollywood has been impacted too and the industry is taking the OTT release route. Apart from Laxmmi Bomb, Vidya Balan starrer Shakuntala Devi and Amitabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khurrana's Gulabo Sitabo are also headed to the direct OTT release.
Laxmmi Bomb is likely to release on Hotstar, according to the report. The date of release is yet to be announced as some post production work is still left, the report said, adding that the producers want to complete the post production work with bare minimum staff.
The digital rights of the films are usually sold at around Rs 60-70 cr but Laxmmi Bomb has managed to garner a whopping Rs 125 cr, the report said.
Laxmmi Bomb is a Hindi-language comedy horror film written and directed by Raghava Lawrence in his Hindi directorial debut. The film is a remake of of the Tamil movie Muni 2: Kanchana.
One of the most successful contemporary actors, Kumar has more than 100 films under his belt. The actor has received a National Film Award for Rustom.
