The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in Mumbai due to heavy rains in the city. It also caused waterlogging on the road. The Mumbai local train was also effected due to severe rainfall.
Considering this, a holiday has been declared for all schools and colleges within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) area. 
In a social media post on X, BMC said, "With reference to this, BMC appeals to schools and the teachers to inform the representatives of guardians; alongwith take necessary precautions and ensure proper coordination at the school level."
