And the context that places the CBSE board exam 2021 into such an uncertainty is the recent spike in the number of COVID-19 cases all over the country. As per an Indian Express report, according to the sources holding the examinations on time seems “difficult”, given the increase in fresh infections. Though the government seems to be reconsidering the exam dates, the officers stated that it was too early to indicate any change in the CBSE board exam 2021 date sheet.
Incidentally, according to the CBSE board exam 2021 date sheet, CBSE class 10 class 12 board exams are scheduled to commence from May 4, 2021 and will continue till June 14, 2021. The CBSE practical exams have already started from March 1, 2021 and will continue till the month of June. However, amidst the rising number of coronavirus cases in the country the future of the CBSE board exams has been put into an uncertainty.
Due to the spike in the number of coronavirus cases across the country, there have been requests from students and guardians to either cancel or postpone the board exams. Hashtags #CancelBoardExams2021 and #CancelBoards2021 have been trending on Twitter. Also, more than one lakh students of classes 10 and 12 have signed petitions urging the government to either cancel CBSE Board Exam 2021 scheduled to be held in May or conduct them in online mode.
Recently in an address organised by SAI International Education Group 'CBSE Board Examinations - Demystified', CBSE controller of exam Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj notably said that, on CBSE Board Exam 2021, his organisation will not leave any stones unturned for the benefit of students. He also advised the students to focus on their studies without paying any heed to rumours and false pretense. While addressing the concerned parents, Dr. Bhardwaj also assured, "It is so difficult for you all, it's a risk to send them to the examination, but kindly continue to support us. Ensure that your child follows all the given precautionary measures."
Due to the steep rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Maharashtra government has decided to postpone the state board exams for class 10 class 12 students. Maharastra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced the postponement in a series of tweets. In a tweet, she also wrote that they will be writing to the CBSE, ICSE, IB, Cambridge boards in order to request them to reconsider their exam dates. Gaikwad also wrote, "During the consultations, various alternative assessment options were evaluated keeping the health, well-being and future of our students in mind. Postponing exams seemed to be the most pragmatic solution.
