TRAI to examine voice and SMS recharge packs of telecom companies

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Friday, January 24, 2025, announced that it will scrutinise the recent introduction of voice and SMS-only recharge packs by certain telecom service providers.
In a post shared on its official Twitter handle, the telecom authority indicated that service providers must report the launch of such plans within seven working days, as mandated by regulatory norms.
"It has come to the notice of TRAI that recently few service providers have launched voice and SMS-only packs which will be reported to TRAI within seven working days from the date of launch," TRAI said.
