The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is stepping up efforts to make commuters aware of its Local Monthly Pass and Annual Pass facilities by displaying clear information at all toll plazas, the government announced on Friday.
The action is intended to enhance openness and to provide road users with a quick and easy way to access information about the availability, pricing, and processes of these passes.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, the data will be available on the signboards at the toll plaza approaches, entry and exit points, and customer service areas. The boards will provide information in English, Hindi, and the local language to serve all travelers.
NHAI's field offices have been directed to upkeep the boards for a month and make sure they are seen at all times, according to the relevant fee regulations. In addition, the information will be made available through the Rajmargyatra mobile application and NHAI project websites for even larger audience.
The Local Monthly Pass is available to private vehicle owners residing within a 20 km radius (or as applicable) of a toll plaza. Commuters need to submit an Aadhaar card, vehicle registration certificate, and proof of residence. The pass is issued at the toll plaza after document verification.
The Annual Pass, valid for one year or 200 toll crossings, is limited to private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. It can be purchased via the Rajmargyatra app and is digitally linked to the vehicle’s FASTag upon payment of a one-time fee of Rs. 3,000. The pass is valid at approximately 1,150 toll plazas across national highways and expressways in India.
