The decisions were cleared by the Finance Committee and announced by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Tuesday. According to the CMO, the elevated road will stretch for about 5 kilometres, connecting Saket G Block to Pul Prahladpur. The total expenditure for the project has been projected to be Rs 1,471 crore. The construction is probably going to start very soon, and the deadline for its conclusion has been set for December 2027.

The completion of the elevated corridor is said to positively affect the daily travels of many commuters by cutting down travel time and at the same time, relieving the congestion of the roads in South Delhi.

Common facility centres to support small businesses

In one more major step, the Delhi government has decided to establish two Common Facility Centres (CFCs) in Badli and Bawana. These centres will be established following the Micro & Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP).

The government has earmarked around Rs 60 crore for this project, which will be realised in the financial year 2025–26. It will be jointly funded by the Centre and the Delhi government.

As per the CMO, the CFCs will provide shared infrastructure and common facilities to micro and small enterprises. This is expected to help small businesses reduce costs, improve productivity, and grow in a more organised manner, especially in industrial clusters like Badli and Bawana.

What development works were launched in RK Puram?

Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated development projects worth nearly Rs 100 crore in the RK Puram Assembly constituency. She said that many development activities in Delhi had remained stalled for years under previous governments.

According to the CMO, the projects in RK Puram include construction and repair of roads, renovation of old and damaged chaupals, upgrading of community centres, and beautification of local parks.

To promote better public health, open gym equipment will be installed in parks. Boundary walls will also be built at places where needed to improve safety and security.

“These initiatives will provide residents with better connectivity, safer public spaces, modern community facilities and a cleaner environment,” Chief Minister Gupta said.

What did the Chief Minister say about funds and stalled projects?

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that earlier, Members of Parliament and MLAs had access to very limited funds, which caused many local development projects to remain pending for years.

She added that for the first time in Delhi, the government has assured public representatives that there will be no shortage of funds for development works. This assurance, she said, has been given under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the situation in areas like RK Puram, which have a large number of jhuggi clusters. She said previous governments failed to focus enough on basic facilities in these areas.

“The present government is committed not to removing jhuggis but to ensuring a dignified life for their residents,” Gupta said. She added that the focus will be on providing permanent housing, toilets, bathing facilities, roads, drains, parks, and play areas for children.

With these approvals, the Delhi government aims to speed up infrastructure growth, support small businesses, and improve the quality of life for residents across the city.
