East Asia Crisis: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday that the domestic supply of LPG will remain stable, urging the public not to panic in anticipation of shortages. "There is no need to panic over LPG," she said. Her remarks came hours after the Narendra Modi 3.0 government held an inter-ministerial briefing detailing the potential impact of the ongoing Middle East crisis on India and its economy. That was the sixth conference of its kind this month to aprise the public on the geopolitical situation in West Asia, especially in the Strait of Hormuz -- which accounts for supplies of about one-fifth of the world's oil and gas supplies.
The finance minister also said that the country's economy continues to be strong, acknowledging that the Middle East crisis presents new challenges.
Speaking on the LPG situation, the Union minister said that refineries are increasing dometsic LPG production while all possible measures are being undertaken to ensure adequate cooking gas supplies.
She also mentioned that the government is providing subsidies to promote solar systems.
