LPG supplies coming! Cooking gas-carrying Indian flag vessels Jag Vasant and Pine transit through strait
The government has urged people not to panic-book LPG refills amid rumours falsely suggesting a shortage of cooking gas.

In a significant update, the shipping ministry said that two Indian Flag LPG carriers -- Jag Vasant and Pine Gas -- have transited through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday evening.

The vessels -- carrying 92,612.59 MT of LPG -- have 33 and 27 Indian seafarers onboard, respectively, according to the ministry.

These vessels are destined for India and are likely to reach Ports between March 26 and March 28, it noted.

The development comes at a time when the government has assured the public of the availability of adequate supplies of auto and cooking fuels nationwide, with refineries running at full capacity and a stable supply chain.

In an inter-ministerial briefing, officials said that the government will continue to ensure uninterrupted LPG supply for households with enhanced domestic production, stating that there is a reduction in panic-refill bookings. They also said that commercial LPG has partially been restored, with total allocation at 50 per cent -- referring to an earlier suggested '20+10+20' formula.
