The government and state-run oil marketing companies Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum have reassured households that cooking gas supply remains stable across the country and urged consumers to avoid panic booking LPG refills.
Domestic LPG supply across India remains fully secure and uninterrupted, according to oil marketing companies (OMCs), which on Sunday urged consumers not to panic-book cooking gas cylinders. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, along with Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, said the current distribution system is operating normally and is fully capable of meeting household demand across the country.
In a joint advisory, the OMCs emphasised that unnecessary or unusually early bookings could disrupt the distribution cycle and delay deliveries for consumers who genuinely require cylinders. Officials said the existing network of distributors, delivery staff and digital booking systems has been designed to ensure a steady flow of LPG cylinders to households without requiring customers to visit distributor offices.
The companies also highlighted that teams are working continuously to maintain smooth supply and urged citizens to rely on the regular booking system rather than responding to rumours about shortages.

OMCs reassure households on uninterrupted LPG supply
Oil marketing companies clarified that domestic LPG supply across the country remains stable despite concerns circulating on social media about potential shortages. Officials stressed that production, transportation and delivery systems are functioning normally.
According to the advisory, the supply chain has adequate stocks and logistics support to ensure timely delivery of cylinders to households. The government and the companies have also been monitoring supply levels closely to prevent disruptions in distribution.
The OMCs reiterated that the LPG distribution framework has been built to handle fluctuations in demand and that consumers do not need to rush to book refills earlier than required.
Why consumers are being urged to avoid panic bookings?
The companies explained that panic or unusually early bookings can disturb the delivery schedule for the entire system. When consumers place refill requests much earlier than required, delivery timelines may stretch for others who urgently need cylinders.
“Unusually early or panic bookings can delay deliveries for others who need cylinders urgently. Let’s ensure the system works smoothly for everyone. Book only when required. Every kitchen deserves its flame on time,” the advisory said.
Officials added that the existing supply chain works efficiently when consumers follow the normal refill cycle, allowing distributors to plan deliveries in an orderly manner.
Multiple platforms available for LPG refill booking
To ensure convenience, oil marketing companies have provided several digital and automated platforms through which consumers can book LPG refills without visiting distributor premises.
Customers can place refill requests using IVRS services, SMS-based booking systems, official mobile applications, missed-call services or through authorised websites.
The companies said the digital booking ecosystem was designed to minimise physical visits to distributors and make the refill process faster and more transparent.
LPG supply remained stable even during COVID period
The OMCs also pointed to their track record of maintaining uninterrupted LPG supply even during major disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic. During that period, cooking gas deliveries continued across urban and rural areas despite strict mobility restrictions.
According to the advisory, the experience gained during those challenging months has further strengthened the supply chain and logistics system. The companies said delivery teams and distribution networks are currently working round the clock to ensure that LPG cylinders continue to reach households without delay.
Government urges consumers to rely on the delivery network
The advisory concluded by urging consumers to remain calm and depend on the existing LPG delivery infrastructure rather than rushing to distributors.
Officials emphasised that the system has been designed to ensure every household receives its cylinder on time. The government and OMCs reiterated that there is no shortage of cooking gas and that supplies remain secure nationwide. “Stay home. Stay assured. Your cylinder will reach you,” the advisory said.
