India-US Trade Deal: Process to prepare legal agreement underway, says Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal

Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal has said that the process of converting the India-US trade deal joint statement into a legal agreement is currently underway. His remarks come days after both sides revealed the contours an interim bilateral trade agreement, which saw the light of the day following months and several rounds of negotiations.

The agreement should be finalised and signed by the end of March, said the official.

The drafting of the legal agreement may take time to ensure both sides are satisfied, he said.

However, India remains optimistic and the concerned teams are already working on it, Agrawal added.
