Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, a 213-kilometre long six-lane access-controlled highway that has been developed at a cost of more than Rs 12,000 crore. The corridor connects the national capital with Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, reducing the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from more than six hours to around two and a half hours.
The corridor includes a spur connecting to Haridwar and integrates with the Char Dham Highway network, improving access to major pilgrimage sites and hill stations in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
"Uttarakhand has completed 25 years and has entered its 26th year. With the inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, another major milestone has been added to its development journey," said the PM.
The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor will transform this region. It will save time, reduce travel costs, lower fuel consumption and create jobs, he said.

<li>Interchanges and Structures: The project includes 10 interchanges, three railway overbridges (ROBs) and four major bridges. Besides, 12 wayside amenities are aimed at providing essential facilities for travellers.</li>
<li>Technology: The corridor is equipped with an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), integrating real-time traffic monitoring, incident detection and response systems. This ensures a safer and more efficient travel experience.</li>
<li>Wildlife Features: Given the ecological sensitivity of the Rajaji National Park region, the project incorporates extensive wildlife protection measures, including a 12-km elevated wildlife corridor -- one of the longest in Asia -- along with eight dedicated animal passages, two 200-metre elephant underpasses and a 370-metre tunnel near Daat Kali Temple. </li>
