Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu on Wednesday inaugurated Wings India 2026 at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad, marking the beginning of one of Asia’s largest and most important aviation summits.

Global aviation leaders gather in Hyderabad

The Ministry of Civil Aviation together with the Telangana government will host the biennial event from January 28 to January 31 which will attract key players from the worldwide aviation sector.

The minister identified Wings India as the most important aviation summit in India which occurs every two years at the inauguration ceremony.

He said the event reflects India’s growing importance in the global aviation sector. Naidu expressed his gratitude to the Telangana government because the summit provides a valuable opportunity to display India’s progress and future civil aviation plans.

Focus on manufacturing strength and rising demand

The minister explained that Wings India 2026 focuses on two main areas because India develops its aviation manufacturing capabilities while domestic demand for aviation services increases.

The government will allocate its primary resources during the next ten years to develop India manufacturing capabilities which will support future aviation requirements. Naidu stated that India should reach its position as a global civil aviation exporter within the next ten to twelve years because of its existing ability.

Boeing 787-9 aircraft steals the spotlight

The main event of the day reached its peak when the venue hosted its first aircraft display. The display included a Boeing 787-9 which had been customized for Air India.

The minister described it as the first delivery of this aircraft type and he stated that delivery delays for aircraft have become the most significant obstacle which the global aviation industry must overcome.

He predicted that the introduction of new aircraft would create substantial benefits for the Indian aviation industry while he anticipated that the industry would achieve exceptional performance during the current year.

Airbus talks strengthen MSME participation

The Civil Aviation Minister conducted talks with Airbus executives before the summit to discover methods which would improve Indian participation in worldwide aviation supply chains, ANI reported.

He met Wouter van Wersch who serves as Executive Vice President International at Airbus and Jurgen Westermeier who is President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia. The discussion aimed to establish stronger connections between Airbus and Indian companies particularly micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to help them join worldwide manufacturing networks.

Naidu shared information about the meeting through social media and he stated that India has become a major global original equipment manufacturer hub because of its innovative capacity and investment potential and skilled workforce.

Wings India 2026 will display international exhibitions and static aircraft displays and aerobatic flying shows and a global aviation conference and ministerial plenary sessions and a Global CEOs Forum. The program includes CEO roundtables and business meetings and an aviation job fair and student innovation competitions and award ceremonies.

India’s civil aviation sector sees rapid growth

Indian civil aviation has experienced fast development during the last ten years. The country has become a key player in international aviation because of its rising passenger traffic and record aircraft orders from airlines and development as a center for aircraft maintenance and pilot training and aerospace manufacturing and cargo operations.
