SpiceJet has announced the launch of special daily non-stop flights connecting Ayodhya with Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad from October 8, 2025. According to an official release reported by ANI, the airline said the initiative is aimed at offering seamless travel to Ayodhya during Diwali, allowing devotees and tourists to visit the newly built Shri Ram Temple during the festival. The airline said flights from Mumbai are also under consideration to further enhance connectivity during the festive and winter travel period. The new routes, starting in phases, are expected to see strong demand as the holy city gears up for its first Diwali celebrations after the inauguration of the temple earlier this year.
SpiceJet said the new flights are part of its efforts to strengthen domestic connectivity and make festive travel accessible to a wider range of passengers. The airline expects a surge in demand as thousands plan to visit Ayodhya for Diwali, which is expected to draw record footfall this year. "There could be no better occasion than Diwali to visit Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram," said Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer of SpiceJet. "We are delighted to make travel to the holy city easier and more convenient for devotees and tourists alike. Our new daily flights from key metros will ensure smooth and affordable access to Ayodhya during Diwali, allowing passengers to celebrate the festival in its most divine setting."
The move also supports Ayodhya's growing prominence as a major spiritual and cultural destination, following the opening of its international airport and improved infrastructure in recent months.
The new Ayodhya flights come as part of SpiceJet's broader expansion of its domestic and international network. Just last week, the airline announced new daily non-stop services to Phuket, Thailand’s largest island, from Delhi and Mumbai. The flights from Delhi will begin on October 31, while services from Mumbai will start on November 6.
Commenting on the international launch, Maharshi said the addition of Phuket reflects SpiceJet's commitment to offering more options for Indian travellers. "With non-stop flights from Delhi and Mumbai, SpiceJet is making it easier than ever for travellers to enjoy Thailand’s pristine beaches, vibrant culture and warm hospitality," he said.
The move comes at a crucial time, with domestic airlines preparing for a significant jump in passenger traffic during Diwali. The new Ayodhya routes are expected to help manage travel demand and ensure affordable fares at a time when ticket prices tend to surge due to high demand.
