SpiceJet has strengthened its fleet with the addition of five more Boeing 737s, one of which is a Boeing 737 MAX, as part of its ongoing major winter expansion plan. The new additions have brought the number of aircraft inducted within just over a month to a total of 15.
Among these are 14 planes that have been added on a damp lease (which includes two 737 MAX) and the successful ungrounding and reactivation of a Boeing 737 MAX from the airline's grounded inventory, as per the airline's official release.
With these additions, SpiceJet’s operational fleet now stands at 35 aircraft. The five planes newly inducted in the fleet have already started their commercial operations, thereby improving the connectivity of the routes with high demand, both domestic and international.
The rapid expansion provides a major boost to SpiceJet’s winter schedule, responding to surging passenger traffic during the festive and holiday season. "As of September 30, 2025, SpiceJet was operating 100 daily flights. With these latest additions, the airline’s daily operations have now surged to 176 flights per day," the airline said.
Following the latest fleet additions, the airline has increased its daily operations to 176 flights from 100 flights per day.
Speaking on new additions, DebojoMaharshi, Chief Business Officer, SpiceJet, said, "SpiceJet’s winter expansion is a reflection of the strong demand in the market and our readiness to meet it."
"With 15 new aircraft joining our fleet and daily flights surging to 176, we are not only expanding our footprint but also reinforcing our commitment to reliable, affordable, and convenient air travel for millions of passengers,” he added.
Shares of SpiceJet surged as much as 3 per cent on Thursday's trading session following the announcement. The airline stock closed at Rs 36.25, up by 2.17 per cent from the previous close of Rs 35.48. The scrip has declined 35.75 per cent on a year-to-date (YTD) basis.
