IndiGo Resumes Flights With Limited Operations: IndiGo -- the country's largest airline, which has hit operational turbulence this week -- resumed services from most airports on Saturday, December 6, after days of mass cancellations that left thousands of passengers irked and confused. The airline restarted operations with a curtailed schedule, with full normalcy expected between December 10 and 15. The move brought partial relief to the domestic aviation sector after four straight days of severe disruption, during which more than 1,000 IndiGo flights were cancelled, including all departures from New Delhi. The government responded by granting temporary relaxations in pilot-duty regulations.
The turmoil stemmed from IndiGo’s failure to adequately prepare for stricter norms that took effect on November 1, triggering a cascade of cancellations at the start of the winter travel season. Despite the partial resumption, passengers continued to face delays in receiving updates and refunds. Rival airlines SpiceJet and Air India added extra services, while the Indian Railways introduced special trains and deployed 116 additional coaches across 37 routes to support the strained travel network.
The Centre said on Friday it is monitoring schedules and fares through a 24×7 control room.
More than 450 flights were learned to be cancelled, including 71 departures and 79 arrivals at Delhi Airport, and 76 departures and 70 arrivals at Mumbai Airport.
Here's the latest tally for the day:
| City | Cancellations |
| Hyderabad | 69 |
| Delhi | 150 |
| Mumbai | 146 |
| Chennai | 48 |
| Ahmedabad | 19 |
| Jaipur | 6 |
| Chandigarh | 10 |
| Visakhapatnam | 20 |

In a detailed post on microblogging site X late on Friday, IndiGo apologised to customers, acknowledging the disruption caused by its operational crisis. The airline said it is rebooting systems and working with authorities to gradually restore normal operations.
“We want you to know that you will see incremental progress… We will do everything to earn back your trust and the love you have showered on us in the last 19 years,” the airline wrote.

IndiGo said refunds for cancelled flights will be processed automatically and announced a full waiver on cancellations and rescheduling for travel between December 5 and 15. The airline also arranged thousands of hotel rooms and surface transport for stranded passengers, provided food and snacks at airports, and offered lounge access to senior citizens where possible.
It urged customers to check flight status before travelling to the airport and acknowledged long wait times, noting that its contact centre capacity has been significantly expanded. Its AI assistant, 6Eskai, can help with flight status, refunds and rebookings.
“We do deeply apologise and understand how difficult the past few days have been… We will do everything in our capacity to bring operations back to normal at the earliest,” the airline added.
