India’s Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Civil Aviation has taken a strict stance on the large number of flight cancellations in the country, especially by IndiGo.
The committee, led by JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, will soon summon all airlines, including IndiGo, to explain the disruptions. Officials from the DGCA and the Civil Aviation Ministry will also be called to provide information.
The action comes after passengers, including several MPs, faced major inconvenience, and many common passengers personally contacted lawmakers to report their problems.
The committee plans to ask airlines why ticket prices surged after cancellations and will explore long-term solutions to prevent such situations in the future.
In this context, CPM MP John Brittas has written to the Prime Minister requesting either a Joint Parliamentary Committee or a judicial probe into the matter.
<h2>IndiGo Jaipur Airport flight cancellations</h2>
Due to a crew shortage, 11 IndiGo flights were cancelled at Jaipur Airport today.

IndiGo has stated that the large number of cancellations over the past few days was necessary to reboot its network, systems, and staff rosters.
Yesterday, the airline operated just over 700 flights connecting 113 destinations, aiming to stabilise operations. IndiGo has reported early signs of improvement and plans to operate more than 1,500 flights by the end of today.
The airline stated that it has restored 95 percent of its network, operating to 135 out of 138 destinations.
In Hyderabad, IndiGo recorded 54 arrivals and 61 departures cancelled on 7th December. The ticket prices have risen sharply, with fares on the Delhi–Mumbai route now ranging from Rs 6,000 to Rs 16,000.
A total of 164 flights were cancelled across major cities, including 38 in Chennai, 115 in Hyderabad, 8 in Mumbai, 3 in Chandigarh, with additional disruptions reported in Delhi and Bengaluru.
