Who is Tejas Mehta, Vodafone Idea’s new CFO from October 6

Vodafone Idea Ltd has appointed Tejas Mehta as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective October 6, marking another key change in the company's top management. He will succeed Murthy GVAS, whose tenure ends on October 5, the telecom operator said in a regulatory filing on Friday.

Who is Tejas Mehta?

A chartered accountant by training, Tejas Mehta has held senior roles in finance and strategy at the consumer goods firm’s operations in India and overseas. Mehta moves to Vodafone Idea from Mondelez India, where he served as Finance Head.

People familiar with the company’s thinking said the appointment signals Vodafone Idea’s focus on strengthening its financial management as it continues efforts to stabilise operations and rebuild market confidence.

This is the second major leadership change in recent months. In August, Abhijit Kishore was appointed Chief Executive Officer after the completion of Akshaya Moondra’s term.

The company has been in the midst of a long restructuring process as it works to improve service quality, expand network capacity and attract new investment. Vodafone Idea, jointly promoted by the Aditya Birla Group and the Vodafone Group, remains focused on strengthening its balance sheet and expanding digital services. The company has said it aims to improve customer experience and sustain investments in technology as part of its next phase of consolidation.
