“Tata Group maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of coercion or misconduct by its employees,” he said.

He added that the company has already launched a detailed investigation to get to the bottom of the allegations and identify those responsible.

“A thorough investigation is underway to establish the facts and identify all individuals responsible for this situation,” he said, adding that strict action will follow if anyone is found guilty.

Case described as ‘deeply anguishing’

The Tata Sons Chairman said the allegations emerging from the Nashik TCS branch have caused concern within the organisation.

“The complaints and allegations emerging from Nashik branch of TCS has been gravely concerning and deeply anguishing,” Chandrasekaran said.

He also confirmed that action has already been started against employees named in the case, while the company continues to cooperate fully with investigating agencies.

Top-level internal probe ordered

TCS has assigned Chief Operating Officer Aarthi Subramanian to lead the internal investigation.

The idea, sources said, is to ensure the inquiry is handled at a senior level and does not remain just a routine internal process.

The probe is expected to examine both individual conduct and whether internal systems failed to respond properly to complaints raised earlier.

How the case first came to light

The matter began in March when a woman employee at TCS filed a complaint alleging that a colleague had entered into a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage. What initially appeared to be a single complaint later expanded as police began deeper investigation into related allegations.

State government calls case serious

The Maharashtra government has also taken note of the matter. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has termed the allegations “very serious” and praised Nashik police for their quick action as the investigation gathered pace. Special investigation team(SIT) has been formed for detailed probe into the matter.
