Spotify has become the latest streaming service to enter the fast-growing Indian market. Unlike Netflix and Prime Video, the music streaming service caters to music lovers and has been trying to expand its base outside of the United States for a while now. The platform is available for download from Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. It can also be downloaded on desktop for Windows and Mac-Os. The platform claims to offer more than four crore songs and 300 crore playlists for music fans in the country.

Spotify Premium price in India has been fixed at Rs 119 per month and Rs 1,189 per year which is much cheaper than what the company charges in the US. The Sweden-based music streaming service has the highest number of paying subscribers in the world.

With this, India has become 79th market for Spotify and 11th in Asia. The company said that has finely tuned its features for the Indian music fans. “As Spotify grows, our goal is to bring millions of artists and billions of fans together from every country and background,” Daniel Ek, Spotify’s founder and CEO, said.

“India has an incredibly rich music culture, and to best serve this market, we’re launching a custom-built experience. Not only will Spotify bring Indian artists to the world, we will also bring the world’s music to fans across India. We have been working towards this goal for quite some time, and I am thrilled with today’s launch,” he added.
