SpiceJet, on Tuesday, announced that it has added two Boeing 737 planes to its fleet, further strengthening its operational capability and capacity across key domestic and international routes.
According to the airline, the new planes have completed all regulatory formalities and have already entered commercial service. Both aircraft commenced operations on November 26 and 29, respectively, and are currently deployed on other major routes, including Delhi-Bangkok, Ahmedabad-Dubai, and Ahmedabad-Kolkata.
"The addition comes at an important time for the airline as it continues to focus on improving connectivity, enhancing schedule reliability, and meeting rising passenger demand. With these inductions, SpiceJet aims to offer greater choice and flexibility to travellers during the peak travel season," SpiceJet said.
DebojoMaharshi, Chief Business Officer, SpiceJet, said that the induction of the two Boeing 737 aircraft into the fleet is another step in the airline's ongoing efforts to expand capacity in a calibrated and responsible manner.
"Both aircraft have already entered commercial service, and we are confident they will further strengthen our operations. We remain committed to providing reliable, efficient, and affordable air travel to our passengers while continuing to build a stronger and more resilient network,” he said.
SpiceJet shares rose as much as 8 per cent on Tuesday's trading session post the fleet expansion announcement. As of 3:10 pm, the stock was trading at Rs 34.30, up by 5.54 per cent from the previous close of Rs 32.50.
The scrip has gained over 15 per cent in the consecutive three trading sessions to touch an intraday high of Rs 34.99 today, amid the ongoing IndiGo crisis.
However, the stock has declined marginally by 3.03 per cent in the past month. Additionally, it has declined 21.22 per cent in the last six months and 39.38 per cent on a year-to-date (YTD) basis.
The scrip hit its 52-week high of Rs 61.99 on December 19, 2024, while it recorded its 52-week low of Rs 28.13 on October 8, 2025.
IndiGo's flight disruptions continue for the eighth consecutive day on Tuesday, across major airports, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Chennai. The airline has cancelled hundreds of flights due to operational challenges, while steadily ramping up its network coverage and on-time performance.
