Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (MSE) on Friday said the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved the appointment of Upma Dada Chawdhry as the Chairperson of the Governing Board of the exchange.
Chawdhry, a Public Interest Director at MSE, is a 1983-batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre and has over 35 years of administrative experience across sectors including finance, rural development, education, industry, tourism, women’s empowerment and public sector reforms.
She became the first woman Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in 2016.
According to the exchange, Chawdhry has represented India at international forums, including the World Trade Organization, and has worked with several United Nations agencies.
Between 2018 and 2021, she served as a member of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration and chaired the working group for the United Nations Public Service Awards.
MSE said Chawdhry has also served on the boards of multiple institutions and companies in governance and organisational development roles.
Commenting on the appointment, Latika S. Kundu, Managing Director and CEO of MSE, said Chawdhry’s experience in governance and institution-building would support the exchange’s ongoing development initiatives.
