PowerGrid Corporation of India -- a Maharatna company -- on Friday reported a standalone net profit of Rs 4,552.8 crore for the quarter ended March 31, marking a rise of 5.0 pre cent over the corresponding period a year ago. For the final quarter of FY25, the CPSE had registered a standalone net profit of Rs 4,336.2 crore.

Its revenue for the January-March 2026 period declined 9.2 per cent to Rs 9,971.1 crore, according to a regulatory filing.

Both headline numbers fell short of analysts' estimates.

According to Zee Business research, PowerGrid was estimated to register a net profit of Rs 4,664 crore and revenue of Rs 12,606 crore for the quarter ended March 31.

Revenue mix

PowerGrid registered revenue of Rs 9,715.7 crore from its core transmission business, versus Rs 10,903.6 crore a year ago, according to the filing.

Revenue from its consultancy business jumped 76.2 per cent to Rs 524.4 crore.

PowerGrid announces 12.5% dividend

The PSU declared a dividend of Rs 1.25 per equity share -- a payout of 12.5 per cent given the face value of Rs 10 per equity share. This marks the final dividend for FY26.

The payout -- subject to shareholders' approval at its next AGM -- will be paid within the next 30 days, said the company.

PowerGrid shares vs Nifty 50 vs Nifty Energy

Earlier on Friday, the PowerGrid stock gained by Rs 4.1 -- or 1.3 per cent -- to close at Rs 305.9 apiece on BSE.

At this level, the Maharatna stock has risen 14.5 per cent so far this year, outperforming a 9.6 per cent fall in the Nifty 50 and even a 12.7 per cent rise in the Nifty Energy.
