GAIL Q4 Results: At Rs 1,262 crore, PAT misses estimates; Maharatna PSU's top line meets mark

Gas giant GAIL -- a Maharatna CPSE -- on Thursday reported a net profit of Rs 1,262 crore for the quarter ended March 31, marking a quarter-on-quarter fall of 21.3 per cent. The net profit fell short of analysts' expectations.

Its March-quarter revenue declined 2.5 per cent sequentially to Rs 34,797 crore, according to a regulatory filing. The top line met estimates.

According to Zee Business research, the PSU was estimated to register a quarterly net profit of Rs 1,389 crore and revenue of Rs 33,137 crore.

Earlier on Thursday, GAIL shares ended 0.2 per cent higher at Rs 155.9 apiece on BSE.

At this level, the largecap stock is down 9.3 per cent for the year, in line with a 9.5 per cent loss in the Nifty 50. The Nifty Energy has dropped 14 per cent during this period.
