FIFA World Cup 2026 to be broadcast on ZEE platforms in India; network secures long-term FIFA rights

World Cup Set to Begin on June 11: With the FIFA World Cup 2026 set to kick off on June 11, football fans in India will be able to watch the tournament across ZEE's television and digital platforms. The broadcaster has announced that it will bring the world's biggest football event to viewers through its expanding sports network and streaming services.

The 2026 edition is expected to be one of the largest in the tournament's history. For the first time, 48 teams will compete in the World Cup, with a total of 104 matches scheduled during the competition.

Eight-Year FIFA Partnership

ZEE said its association with FIFA goes beyond the upcoming World Cup. Under a long-term arrangement, the network will bring major FIFA events to Indian audiences between 2026 and 2034.

The rights package includes several of football's biggest global competitions. Apart from the FIFA World Cup 2026, viewers will also be able to watch tournaments such as the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 and FIFA World Cup 2030.

According to the broadcaster, a total of 39 global FIFA tournaments will be available on its platforms during the rights cycle, ensuring year-round access to international football events.

New Sports Channels to Air Matches

As part of its sports expansion strategy, ZEE has announced the launch of four dedicated sports channels — Unite8 Sports 1, Unite8 Sports 1 HD, Unite8 Sports 2 and Unite8 Sports 2 HD.

The network said these channels will serve as the primary television destination for FIFA tournaments in India, including the upcoming World Cup.

Live Streaming on ZEE5

In addition to television coverage, football fans will be able to watch matches on mobile devices and other digital platforms through live streaming on the ZEE5 app.

The move is expected to provide viewers with greater flexibility to follow matches and tournament coverage wherever they are.

ZEE said it sees sports as more than just a source of entertainment and believes its partnership with FIFA can play a role in encouraging greater interest in football among young audiences.
