Britannia Industries Ltd on Monday announced that Rakshit Hargave has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of the company following the resignation of Varun Berry from his positions. This marks the end of Berry's decade-long leadership at the FMCG major.
In a regulatory filing, Britannia said Berry tendered his resignation on November 6, which was subsequently accepted by the board of directors at its meeting held on November 10.
"Accordingly, he shall be relieved from the services of the Company with effect from the close of business hours on 10th November, 2025,” Britannia said in a regulatory filing.
The board approved Hargave's appointment as additional full-time director and CEO on November 5. Hargave, who has extensive experience in the consumer goods sector, will formally assume his new role upon taking charge next month. He has been appointed for a five-year term, effective December 15, 2025.
To ensure continuity during the transition, the Board has appointed Natarajan Venkataraman, currently Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, as the interim Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. Venkataraman will oversee operations until Hargave takes over.
Consequent to his resignation from the Board, "Varun Berry also ceases to be a member of the Stakeholders Relationship Committee, CSR Committee, Risk Management Committee, Finance Committee, Strategy and Innovation Steering Committee and IT Committee of the Company."
