Amazon India has crossed $20 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports through its Global Selling programme, reaching the target ahead of schedule. The company said the milestone underscores the growing presence of Indian exporters in global markets and rising demand for ‘Made in India’ products across the world.
Amazon said its exporter base has grown by 33 per cent in the past year, expanding to more than two lakh small businesses and entrepreneurs across 28 states and 200 cities. The platform now connects Indian sellers with customers across over 18 international marketplaces, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, France, Italy, Spain and the UAE.
The company's decade-long Global Selling initiative has enabled exporters to sell over 750 million Indian-made products to customers worldwide since its launch in 2015. The programme aims to make global trade accessible to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by providing tools for international logistics, payments and compliance support.
According to the company’s data, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Haryana have the highest number of exporters using Amazon’s global platform.
In terms of product categories, health and personal care and beauty products led the growth with a 45 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the past decade. Other top-performing segments included toys (44 per cent), home products (39 per cent), apparel (37 per cent) and furniture (36 per cent).
Small manufacturing hubs have also seen significant progress. Exporters from Karur in Tamil Nadu crossed $147 million in sales last year, while Junagadh in Gujarat and Erode in Tamil Nadu recorded sales worth $60 million and $34 million respectively.
Srinidhi Kalvapudi, Head of Amazon Global Selling India, said the early achievement of the $20 billion target demonstrates both the ambition of Indian businesses and the potential of e-commerce exports in driving national growth.
“Since 2015, Amazon has enabled $20 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India, achieving this milestone ahead of the 2025 target. This momentum reflects the ambition of Indian businesses and the growing role of e-commerce exports in global trade. As we work towards our $80 billion export goal by 2030, we are focused on simplifying cross-border trade through technology, capacity building, and ecosystem partnerships," said Kalvapudi.
Many Indian exporters credit Amazon’s platform for helping them access international markets. Sarvesh Agarwal, founder of HomeMonde, said his company was able to reach eco-conscious customers abroad with sustainable jute rugs made in India.
“With Amazon Global Selling, we’ve been able to study market trends, reach global customers, and manage logistics smoothly. Every rug we sell tells a story of craftsmanship and India’s rich artisanal tradition,” Agarwal said.
