Ducati renews the XDiavel range by introducing two new versions for 2021: the XDiavel Dark and the XDiavel Black Star. XDiavel, the Ducati cruiser that combines the best of both worlds, is renewed, still remaining true to its philosophy.
The new sports version, the Black Star, and the matt black total look version, the XDiavel Dark, further enhance the strengths of the XDiavel. These include the ability to combine exciting performance, sports bike power and refined electronics with the typical cruiser features: a long low and comfortable bike with advanced footpegs and a powerful torque even at low revs, but also top materials and finishes.
The new XDiavel Black Star version embodies the sports side of the Ducati cruiser, with a livery and equipment inspired by the world of sports cars. The exclusive livery alternates matt grey and black with inevitable touches of red. The colour cuts are clean and crossed, echoing the graphic concept of the X that characterises the family. Similarly, the XDiavel Dark enhances the beauty of the Ducati cruiser's shapes thanks to the essential matt black colour. Ducati has a bond of over twenty years with matt black: in 1998, the Monster 600 Dark was the first model with this livery. On the XDiavel Dark, the total black livery has also been extended to the mechanics and finishes, thus enhancing the Ducati "Reduce to the Max" design principle. The XDiavel Dark, the gateway to the XDiavel world, represents its purity and essential nature.
For the entire XDiavel 2021 range, the Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262 twin-cylinder engine becomes Euro 5 compliant in all countries that adopt this standard. To comply with the new European emissions standard, an updated silencer layout has been adopted, with a new design that further enhances the bike's lines and a new engine calibration. As a result, the XDiavel delivers a maximum power output of 160 hp at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 13.0 kgm at 5,000 rpm, with an increase of 8 hp and 0.2 kgm compared to the Euro 4 version. (Only for countries where Euro 5 standard applies.)
The standard equipment of the XDiavel is extensive and includes: Bosch inertial platform (IMU), ABS Cornering and Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Power Launch, full-LED lighting system and, on the S and Black Star versions, Daytime Running Light, forged and anodised side frame plates with visible machining, billet aluminium rear-view mirrors and Ducati Multimedia System.
Ducati Power Launch (DPL)
The DPL is operated by pressing the dedicated button positioned on the right-hand switch. Once activated it is possible to select the intervention level through the menu which opens up on the dashboard. Once the level is selected, the rider must use the clutch, put it in first gear and completely open the gas. At this point, simply by gradually releasing the clutch, it is possible to make an explosive start. The system automatically switches off on exceeding 120 km/h, or when third gear is engaged, or when speed drops to under 5 km/h. In order to protect the clutch, the system uses an algorithm which enables only a limited number of consecutive starts. The starts are recalculated one by one during normal use of the bike.
