Tata Motors May Hike Vehicle Prices Soon: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) may soon increase prices across its vehicle lineup as rising commodity costs continue to put pressure on the auto sector. The commodity costs have gone up by nearly 5-6 per cent, increasing overall input expenses. Due to the rising cost burden, the company has indicated that a price hike is being considered.

Final Decision in Last Stage

The final decision on increasing vehicle prices is currently in the last stage. The move comes at a time when higher input costs are impacting several players in the automobile industry.

The company may pass on a part of the increased cost burden to customers if prices are revised in the coming weeks.

Hyundai and Maruti Also Announce Price Hikes

The development comes a day after Hyundai Motor India announced a price hike across its car range. The revised prices are set to come into effect from next week. In a stock exchange filing, the company said the price hike will be up to a maximum of Rs 12,800, depending on the model and variant.

"The extent of price increase is up to a maximum of Rs 12,800/- and it will vary depending on the model and variant," Hyundai India said.

"While the company continuously strives to optimize costs and minimize the impact on its customers, the company is constrained to pass on some of the increased costs to the market through this nominal price increase," it added. The company cited inflationary pressures and an unfavourable cost environment as the reason behind this price hike.
