Electric commercial vehicle manufacturer Olectra Greentech Limited has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) for 1,085 electric buses. The order comes from the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) through EV Trans Private Limited and is part of the PM E-Drive initiative led by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), which aims to expand electric public transportation across Indian cities.

Commenting on the LOI, Managing Director Mahesh Babu said - This is a landmark moment for Olectra family and a significant milestone in our journey toward advancing electric mobility in India. Receiving this order under the PM E-Drive program reinforces our commitment to ‘Make in India.’ We are proud to supply our advanced, indigenously designed electric buses to Telangana, our home state and a symbol of innovation and progress. Working with TSRTC, we aim to provide citizens with safer, more comfortable, and reliable public transportation, while supporting India’s clean energy and net-zero objectives.

The order includes 12-meter low-floor buses, available in both AC and non-AC variants, designed specifically for Indian roads and urban needs. Each bus will feature advanced front and rear air suspension systems for enhanced comfort and safety, high-capacity lithium-ion batteries capable of covering over 250 kilometers on a single charge, and rapid-charging support in approximately 45 minutes. The buses will also include dedicated spaces for wheelchair users, promoting accessibility and inclusivity.
