Ola Electric renegotiates registration agency contracts February VAHAN data may see temporary dip

Ola Electric has initiated renegotiations with its vehicle registration agencies, a move aimed at optimising costs and improving efficiency. While this process is expected to temporarily impact registration figures on the government's VAHAN portal in February 2025, the company has assured that actual sales remain unaffected.

In a stock exchange filing on Wednesday, Ola Electric confirmed that discussions are underway with Rosmerta Digital Services Private Ltd and Shimnit India Private Ltd to revise existing agreements as part of its broader sales strategy.

"We are renegotiating the terms of agreement with our agencies, namely Rosmerta Digital Services Private Ltd and Shimnit India Private Ltd, to reduce costs and enhance registration process efficiencies. Due to ongoing negotiations and optimisation of the registration process, our registration numbers for February 2025 (on VAHAN portal) will be temporarily impacted. Our sales continue to be strong, and the dip in registration will be streamlined in the next few weeks," the company stated.

Ola Electric operates on a direct-to-consumer model, bypassing traditional dealership networks and relying on company-owned experience centers for sales. As a result, it collaborates with registration agencies for vehicle documentation and compliance.

The company reiterated that the temporary fluctuation in VAHAN registration numbers is not a reflection of its sales performance and that normal registration operations will resume in the coming weeks. The impact of these renegotiations on Ola Electric's cost structure and registration framework remains to be seen.​
