SIAM Feb Data 2026: India’s automobile industry reported its strongest-ever February wholesales in 2026, with passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers posting double-digit growth compared with the year-ago period, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Friday.
Passenger vehicle wholesales stood at 4.18 lakh units in February 2026, registering a 10.6 per cent increase compared with February 2025.
Two-wheeler wholesales rose 35.2 per cent year-on-year to 18.71 lakh units during the month.
Three-wheeler wholesales increased 29 per cent year-on-year to 0.75 lakh units in February 2026, according to SIAM data.
The industry body releases monthly wholesale data based on vehicle dispatches from manufacturers to dealers.

Within the passenger vehicle category, vans posted modest growth. Domestic sales rose 1.1 per cent to 11,620 units in February, compared with 11,493 units in the same month last year.
Motorcycle sales increased 30.8 per cent to 10,96,537 units, up from 8,38,250 units a year earlier.
Scooter demand surged even faster. Sales climbed 42.3 per cent to 7,29,774 units, compared with 5,12,783 units in February 2025.
Commenting on the trend, Rajesh Menon said positive sentiment continues across the industry.
“Passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers posted their highest-ever February sales in 2026, with double-digit growth compared to February 2025,” he said.
However, Menon cautioned that geopolitical tensions in West Asia could pose risks. The ongoing conflict may affect supply chains, potentially impacting manufacturing operations and exports in the coming months.

FADA said passenger vehicle inventory levels declined to 27–29 days, moving closer to the industry’s recommended 21-day benchmark, indicating improved alignment between wholesale dispatches and retail demand.
The association noted that strong retail performance continued despite February being a shorter month.
According to FADA, the auto retail market is gradually transitioning from a sharp rebound phase to a more stable growth cycle.
C S Vigneshwar said February 2026 turned out to be a landmark month for the sector.
“Retail growth has been broad-based across almost all segments, strengthening the positive momentum seen after the GST 2.0 announcement,” he said.
FADA added that while the next three months appear cautiously optimistic, industry expectations suggest the market may move towards more stable and calibrated growth rather than the rapid rebound seen earlier.
Electric passenger vehicle retail sales also recorded strong annual growth. EV PV sales increased 44 per cent year-on-year to 13,733 units in February, though they declined 25.65 per cent month-on-month from 18,470 units in January, reflecting a typical post-January slowdown.

FADA said the month-on-month softness in EV sales reflects the shorter February and a high January base, and does not change the long-term trajectory of India’s electric mobility transition.
