Buying a new car has become more expensive since July 1, as several automobile manufacturers have increased prices across their passenger and commercial vehicle portfolios.

The price hikes have been announced due to rising input costs, higher commodity prices and increased operational expenses. The increase varies across models and variants.

Tata Motors, Kia India, JSW MG Motor India and BMW Group India have implemented fresh price hikes from July 1. Hyundai Motor India and Maruti Suzuki had already revised prices in June.

Tata Motors Increases Prices

Tata Motors has increased prices of its passenger vehicles by up to 1.5 per cent from July 1. The company said the increase will differ depending on the model and variant.

The automaker has also raised prices of its commercial vehicles by up to 2.5 per cent with effect from July 1. The revision is applicable across the commercial vehicle range, with the final increase depending on the model and variant.

Kia, MG and BMW Raise Prices

Kia India has increased prices across its vehicle lineup by up to 2 per cent from July 1.

JSW MG Motor India has also raised prices of its vehicles by up to 3 per cent from July 1.

BMW Group India has revised prices of BMW and MINI vehicles by up to 2 per cent with effect from July 1.

The companies said the price increases are aimed at partially offsetting the impact of higher manufacturing, commodity and operating costs.

Hyundai Had Revised Prices in June

Hyundai Motor India had increased prices across its entire model range by up to 1 per cent from June 1, 2026.

The company had said the increase was up to Rs 12,800, depending on the model. Hyundai attributed the revision to rising input costs, higher commodity prices and increased operational expenses. It was the company's second weighted-average price increase during the year.

Maruti Suzuki Increased Prices From June 14

Maruti Suzuki had also revised prices across several models from June 14 after announcing a price hike of up to Rs 30,000. The increase differed across models. Wagon R and Eeco prices were raised by up to Rs 5,000 each.

Swift, Baleno, Dzire, Fronx and Jimny became costlier by up to Rs 7,500. Prices of Ertiga and XL6 were increased by up to Rs 10,000 each.

The Invicto recorded a price hike of up to Rs 25,000, while the e Vitara saw the highest increase of up to Rs 30,000.

Price Increase Varies Across Models

Automakers have said the price revision is not uniform across all vehicles. The increase depends on the model and variant chosen by customers.

The companies said the latest revisions have been made to partially pass on the impact of rising production costs while maintaining business operations.

Passenger Vehicle Market Remains Strong

The price hikes come even as the Indian passenger vehicle market continues to witness healthy demand. The passenger vehicle market crossed 4.4 lakh units in May 2026, recording a 25 per cent year-on-year growth.

Maruti Suzuki remained the country's largest carmaker with record sales of 1,90,337 units, up 39 per cent from a year earlier. Tata Motors retained the second position with sales of 59,090 units, followed by Mahindra & Mahindra, which sold 58,021 units during the month.

Hyundai reported sales of 47,837 units, while Toyota sold 30,574 units. Kia India recorded sales of 27,586 units in May 2026.
