Overall, two-wheeler and commercial vehicle segments lead growth in the auto space, with better-than-expected monthly sales, while tractor sales maintained sales momentum.

Analysts attribute the overall steady sales growth in the sector to factors like:

• Festive spillover
• Price cuts due to GST reduction
• Improvement in rural sentiment
• Strong exports

Auto Sales December 2025 LIVE: Hyundai Motor India total sales fall short of analysts' estimates

Zee Business analysts pegged Hyundai Motor India's total sales for the month at 60,000 units. 

HMIL says it finished 2025 with an optimised network stock, ensuring healthy inventory management. 

Auto Sales Dec 2025 Update: Hyundai Motor India total sales up nearly 7%

Hyundai Motor India reports total sales of 58,702 units in December, marking a rise of 6.6 per cent over the year-ago period.

In the domestic market, the auto giant sells 42,416 units during the month, up 0.5 per cent.

Exports are up 26.5 per cent at 16,286 units. 

Auto Sales LIVE: Domestic tractor industry poised to sustain growth momentum, says Escorts

According to Escorts, the domestic tractor industry sustained its strong performance in December, propelled by;

• Supportive government policies
• Lower GST rates
• Continued state subsidies

The industry has benefited from strong Kharif output, enhanced Rabi sowing as compared to last year, increased water availability, and positive rural sentiment, all of which contributed to heightened retail demand, says the tractor maker, adding that with these encouraging factors in place, the industry is poised to sustain its growth momentum in the coming months. 

Auto Sales LIVE: Escorts total sales rise 38.5% in Dec 2025

Escorts registers total sales of 7,577 units in December versus the 5,472 units sold a year ago. Its latest monthly tally is higher than Street expectations. According to Zee Business research, the tractor maker was estimated to register total sales of 6,200 units.    

In the domestic market, its total sales stand at 6,828 units, marking a 36.1 per cent increase over the 5,016 units sold a year ago.  

Exports are up 64.3 per cent at 749 units.

SML Mahindra's sales in the cargo vehicle segment stand at 462 units in December, up 76 per cent over the 262 units sold a year ago.

SML Mahindra -- formerly SML ISUZU -- reports total sales of 1,044 units in December, an increase of 67 per cent over the year-ago period. 

Out of those, passenger vehicle sales are up 60 per cent at 582 units.

Ashok Leyland reports total sales of 19,855 commercial vehicles in the domestic market in December, up 26 per cent over the 15,713 units sold a year ago. 

Out of those, sales of M&HCV trucks are up 27 per cent at 11,387 units and of M&HCV buses up 8 per cent at 69,676 units. 

In the LCV segment, Ashok Leyland's sales have risen to 2,166 units from 1,509 units a year ago.

In the up to 350cc category, Royal Enfield registers total sales of 95,480 units in December, up 37 per cent over the 69,476 units sold a year ago. 

In the above 350cc category, RE sales are down 19 per cent at 8,094 units.

VECV -- joint venture between Eicher Motors and Volvo Group -- reports total sales of 10,384 units in December. That marks a year-on-year jump of 24.7 per cent over the 8,324 units sold a year ago. 

In the domestic market, its total sales are up 26.3 per cent at 9,527 units. 

Exports have grown 32.7 per cent to 650 units.

Vikas Sethi of Sethi Finmart says M&M has reported a good set of numbers, and the stock is expected to continue to perform well this year after a decent performance in 2025. 

M&M is Sethi's pick from the auto space. 

The company's tractor segment, he says, continues to perform well.

In the utility vehicles segment, the auto giant logs sales of 50,946 vehicles in the domestic market, an increase of 23 per cent.

VST Tillers & Tractors shares rise as much as 1.3 per cent to an all-time high of Rs 6,347.4 apiece moments after the company reports its monthly sales. 

Vikas Sethi, MD, Sethi Finmart, is bullish on the stock, expecting a 15-20 per cent upside from the current levels.

The company will continue to benefit from the GST 2.0 reform, says Sethi.

According to Zee Business research, Mahindra & Mahindra and Escorts Kubota are estimated to register 15.5 per cent and 13.3 per cent growth in their monthly sales, respectively. 

M&M's December sales are pegged at 26,500 tractors and Escorts Kubota's at 6,200 in December.

According to Zee Business research, Ashok Leyland is estimated to log total sales of 19,600 sales in December, up 16 per cent over the 16,957 units sold a year ago.
