Closing Bell: Indian frontline indices S&amp;P BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 retreated on Thursday marking their third consecutive loss. Banks and energy stocks were at the receiving end as selling pressure mounted on the day of expiry. While Sensex slipped below 60,000 to end the day at 59,958.99,&nbsp;down 147.51 points or 0.25 per cent while the broader market Nifty50 closed at 17,858.20, lower by&nbsp;37.50 points or 0.21 per cent. Banking gauge Nifty Bank finished at 42,082.25, down 150.45 points or 0.36 per cent.&nbsp;

India VIX, a measure of volatility in Nifty was down by over 1 per cent at&nbsp;15.28.&nbsp;

Broader markets were mixed and saw stock specific action. Nifty Mid Cap 100 ended at 31,360.10, down 0.31 points while Nifty Small Cap 100 closed flat at 9,647.65.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, IT major <a href="https://www.zeebiz.com/market-news/live-updates-infosys-hcl-tech-q3-results-live-profit-revenue-margin-attrition-guidance-dividend-216975">Infosys</a> announced a 9.5 per cent jump in its net profit for the quarter ended 31 December 2022. The result was announced after market hours. Infosys shares today ended at Rs 1,482.95 on the NSE and were up by Rs 11.70 or 0.80 from the Wednesday closing price.&nbsp;

Rupee continued its winning run as it closed with gains of 11 paise against the USD at 81.57 (provisional), tracking the overall weakness in the American currency. However, a muted trend in domestic equities and sustained foreign fund outflows capped the gains in the rupee, PT reported quoting traders. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened strong at 81.54, but lost ground to quote an intraday low of 81.74 against the greenback. It finally ended at 81.57 (provisional), registering a rise of 11 paise over its previous close.

On Wednesday, the rupee settled at 81.68 against the US dollar. The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, declined 0.17 per cent to 103.01, PTI report said.

Paytm share price NSE:&nbsp;Investors wanting to buy Paytm shares can do it with a trading perspective, technical analyst Nilesh Jain said while speaking to Zeebiz.com. The chart structure is positive, he said, adding that the counter can move upside of 14 per cent from the current market price of Rs 571.

The stock was trading down today by Rs 8 or 1.37 per cent from the Wednesday closing price amid weak sentiments in the domestic equity market ahead of the release of the US inflation data.

Paytm Share Price Target 2023

Jain, who is Assistant Vice President - Lead Derivative and Technical Research at Centrum Broking, recommended Paytm for targets of Rs 600 and Rs 650 with a stop loss of Rs 540. Investors can look to buy it at current levels or on declines. &nbsp;

The stock has emerged from a consolidation breakout at levels around Rs 540, the Centrum analyst said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Technically, the stock is dwelling in an overbought zone with momentum indicator MFI lingering around 86.6 according to data sourced from Trendlyne. Paytm share price down 70% from IPO price: Buy, sell or hold? Here is what analysts say

NYKAA&nbsp;shares fell on Thursday&nbsp;on news of a block deal worth Rs 212 crore (USD 26 million). The deal was executed at a price of Rs 148 per share - a discount of 4.5 per cent from the Wednesday closing price.&nbsp;Around 1.40 crore shares exchanged hands.

At&nbsp;around 10 am, shares of FSN E-Commerce Ventures - which operates Nykaa brand – were trading at Rs 153.30 on the NSE, down by Rs 1.80 or 1.16 per cent from the previous closing price.&nbsp;

Vikas Sethi, market expert and Managing Director of Sethi Finmart Pvt Ltd said that Nykaa stock was suitable for trading perspective, at best. The valuation remains expensive for this counter if one looks at the fundamentals of the company, Sethi added. &nbsp;

Despite significant corrections in the scrip since listing, the market capitalisation remains high at Rs 45,000 crore. Previous year’s net profit was just around Rs 41 crore and 6-month profit in this financial year is at only 11 crore, Sethi informed. &nbsp;

The stock is “very expensive” and investors must not buy this stock with a long-term view considering the fundamentals of the company, Sethi warned. &nbsp;

A short term trade can be executed if the stock falls to levels around Rs 148, Sethi further said. &nbsp;

Another analyst Sumeet Bagadia said that the stock has been trading with sustained pressure and has support at levels around Rs 145. The resistance is seen at Rs 160 and any bounce back could be expected if the stock breaches this level.&nbsp;

Selling pressure will continue below the resistance and if it breaches below 145, profit booking will likely be accentuated, Bagadia opined. The overall structure remains weak and it is unlikely to see a major upside at current levels, he further said.

Nykaa has underperformed the Nifty50 by over 53 per cent, giving negative returns of nearly 54 per cent versus negative 0.9 per cent returned by broader market index according to data sourced from Trendlyne.&nbsp;

The stock is trading a price to book (PB) value of 32.33 which is high among its industry peers. The stock has traded with a 1-year beta of 1. &nbsp;

Momentum indicators RSI and MFI are in mid range at 43.2 and 59.8. A number above 70 is considered as overbought while below 20 is considered as oversold.&nbsp;

Rupee gains 17 paise to close at 81.57 (provisional) against US dollar, PTI reported.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

"The Rupee opened flat and USD was continuously&nbsp; sold on all&nbsp; uptics as Foreign Investors sold USD on all uptics to the dollar," Anil Kumar Bhansali, Head of Treasury at Finrex Treasury Advisors LLP said.

"It was well supported around 81.60 levels as a major bank and defence was buying USD but the same got sold of as FPI flows and fixing saw good selling once it approached 81.80 which was the high for the day. Later 81.60 was broken and rupee made a high of 81.51," Bhansali said. "81.40 is next support breach of which could take it down to 80.50 which is a major support," he further said.

<a href="https://www.nseindia.com/market-data/debt-private-placement?company_name=Axis%20Bank%20Limited">Axis Bank</a>&nbsp;Share Price:&nbsp;Axis Bank shares have a potential upside&nbsp;of Rs 200 per share as multiple levers are set to lift the stock, said domestic brokerage firm Sharekhan. The optimism is on expectations of sustained year-on-year growth in advances and a stake purchase in Max Life Insurance Company.&nbsp;

Brokerages Sharekhan and Jefferies are bullish on this stock ahead of the <a href="https://www.zeebiz.com/companies/news-q3fy23-results-loan-growth-better-margins-to-drive-earnings-for-top-banks-sharekhan-picks-hdfc-bank-sbi-icici-bank-216558">quarterly earnings</a> announcement by the third largest private lender.&nbsp;

Axis Bank shares were trading at Rs 950.05 on NSE on Wednesday, down by Rs 2.10 or 0.22 per cent from the previous closing price.&nbsp;&nbsp;

While Sharekhan sees Rs 200 per share gains which translated into 21 per cent upside, Jefferies sees Rs 158 or 17 per cent uptick. Former puts a price target of Rs 1140 while latter at Rs 1,110.&nbsp;

Triggers&nbsp;

1) Sharekhan estimated a 16 per cent y-o-y growth in advances led by retail and SME segments. The Net Interest Margins (NIMs) are likely to go up sequentially, it noted in its report. Key monitorable would be the progress of the Citi portfolio and improvement in operating profit growth led by some improvement in cost ratios.&nbsp;

2) Jefferies, on the other hand opines that Axis Bank’s&nbsp;acquisition of 7 per cent stake in Max Life Insurance will do the trick for the private bank. This will take its stake to 20 per cent. Deal is positive for Max Life, Jefferies commented, highlighting that the opportunity will offer Axis Bank visibility in bancassurance along with MFS (Mobile Financial Services.&nbsp;The&nbsp;stock was recommended at a price of Rs&nbsp;952.&nbsp;Axis may recover value with higher commission that may impact margins a bit.&nbsp;

Technical View:&nbsp;&nbsp;

Technical Analyst Nilesh Jain advice investors to buy this share on declines and the right levels to enter in this stock are between Rs 930 and Rs 920. The chart structure suggests a positive bias and an upside up to Rs 1,000 is open from current levels, Jain said. He puts the stop loss at Rs 900.&nbsp;

Sharekhan, Jefferies bullish on Axis Bank; see up to Rs 200 per share gain

Bharti Airtel Share Price: Shares of telecom major Bharati Airtel on Wednesday cracked over 4 per cent on NSE after global brokerages JP Morgan and Jefferies downgraded rating.&nbsp;The counter was trading at Rs 764.85 around 10 am, down by Rs 28 or 3.53 per cent.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

JP Morgan&nbsp;downgraded the rating to Underweight from Overweight and slashed the target to Rs 710 from Rs 860. The brokerage said that it expects negative surprises on capex and subsidies front that would entail post the 5G rollout.&nbsp;

2023 should be defined by competitive 5G rollouts, the brokerage firm noted. The competition comes from archrival Reliance Jio which is shifting its focus to premium subscribers from entry level subscribers, JP Morgan further said. The stock was recommended at a price of Rs 793.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Jefferies has maintained a Hold rating on Bharti Airtel. It has slashed the target by Rs 5 from Rs 855 to&nbsp;Rs 850.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Zee Business Managing Editor Anil Singhvi said that selling pressure in Airtel will prevail today. He&nbsp;said that the company undertook a hike in tariffs in certain cities a while back and it was expected that the move will be replicated in other cities as well. That has not happened, he said, adding that this is a "problem area for Airtel stock".

Another important development is the double downgrade by JP Morgan. He said that big FIIs are now becoming cautious towards this stock. He recommended an exit at opportune levels. The stock has already corrected and a Sell on rise strategy is advised. &nbsp;

The stock was one of the top losers today on Nifty today.

Zee Business panellist and&nbsp;market expert Sumeet Bagadia said that Bharti Airtel shares are witnessing a sudden plunge and breaking away from important support levels. The current chart structure shows that the stock could test levels of Rs 750-740 in the near term.&nbsp;

He suggested investors to wait for 2-3 days. An opportunity of fresh buying will come once the stock is corrected by another Rs 10-20, Bagadia said. &nbsp;

<h2>Here are 10 key things to know about the January 11 session on Dalal Street:&nbsp;</h2>

1) The Sensex finished the day 10 points lower at&nbsp;60,105.5 and the Nifty50 settled at&nbsp;17,895.7, down&nbsp;18.5 points from its previous close. During the session, the 30-scrip index gyrated in a range of 559 points around the flatline, hitting 60,364.8 and 59,805.8 at the strongest and weakest levels in intraday trade respectively, and the Nifty50 moved between&nbsp;17,824.4&nbsp;and 17,976.4.&nbsp;

2) A total of 32 stocks in the Nifty50 basket closed in the red. Bharti Airtel, Cipla, Divi's, Apollo Hospitals, Hindustan Unilever, ONGC and Coal India -- ending between 1.7 per cent and 3.5 per cent lower -- were the top laggards. On the other hand, Hindalco, BPCL, Sun Pharma, UltraTech, HDFC Bank and TCS -- rising between 1.3 per cent and 2.8 per cent for the day -- were the top gainers.

3) Among heavyweights,&nbsp;Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever and ITC&nbsp;were the biggest drags on the headline indices.&nbsp;

4)&nbsp;The Nifty FMCG was the top laggard among NSE's sectoral indices, closing 1.1 per cent lower, dragged by Hindustan Unilever and ITC.&nbsp;

5) The Nifty Bank -- whose 12 constituents include SBI, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank -- finished 0.5 per cent higher at 42,232.7, having broadly moved within the 42,300-41,750 range during the session.&nbsp;

6) Overall market breadth was skewed in favour of the bulls, as 1,866 stocks rose and 1,627 fell at the close on BSE.

7) The rupee spurted by 21 paise or 0.3 per cent to end at 81.58 against the US dollar.&nbsp;

8) European shares began the day in the green, aided by&nbsp;optimism over reopening in China and hopes of less aggressive US interest rate hikes. The pan-European Stoxx 600 index was up 0.1 per cent at the last count. The UK's FTSE 100 was up&nbsp;0.3 per cent, and France's CAC and Germany's DAX up 0.2 per cent each.&nbsp;

9) Earlier in the day, equities in other Asian markets grew stronger, with MSCI's broadest index of Asia Pacific shares outside Japan quoting up 0.4 per cent.&nbsp;

Banking sector will be in focus over the next two months as banks from private and public sector will begin announcing their October-December quarter results. India’s largest private lender HDFC Bank Limited will be the first one to declare its earnings on January 14, Saturday.

Brokerage firm Sharekhan has identified 12 stocks to frame its strategy on and expects gains between 13 and 31 per cent in these stocks. The stocks picked by Sharekhan are large private banks, mid-tier private banks, small private banks and public sector banks.

The domestic brokerage firm has picked Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Federal Bank and AU Small Finance Bank as its preferred stocks.

Sharekhan in its earnings preview said that HDFC Bank will likely report a 16.1 per cent YoY jump in net profit while ICICI Bank is expected to report 29 per cent jump. Third largest private lender Axis Bank is estimated to report a 50 per cent jump on the YoY basis. The Net Interest Income (NII) for these top private lenders is seen at 22.6-25.5 per cent.

Among PSU Banks, SBI is expected to report 61 per cent jump in Profit After Tax (PAT) while PNB could see a 35 per cent increase in its net income. The NII for SBI is seen at 21.2 YoY while 17.4 for PNB.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Sharekhan in a note said that the&nbsp;banking sector is expected to report a healthy performance in Q3FY23, led by strong loan growth, margin improvement and lower credit costs. Net Interest Income (NII) growth is likely to be strong on account of robust loan growth, while benign core credit cost would support earnings, it further said.

1) Deposits growth is expected to gain traction as deposit rates have risen sharply across banks over the past few months.

2) The banks will likely witness improvement in asset quality on moderation in slippages, healthy recoveries, and better collection efficiencies.

He said that Dollar weakness for the reason behind spike in INR. Dollar's weakness in on anticipation of slow interest rate hike in the upcoming FOMC meeting.&nbsp;

Weakness in Dollar Index has also kept price of crude oil in check.&nbsp;

Tata Consultancy Services (<a href="https://www.bseindia.com/stock-share-price/tata-consultancy-services-ltd/tcs/532540/">B</a><a href="https://www.nseindia.com/get-quotes/equity?symbol=TCS">SE: TCS</a>) shares fell on Tuesday, weighing on <a href="https://www.zeebiz.com/market-news/live-updates-stock-market-today-sensex-nifty-tcs-tata-motors-fed-dow-jones-nikkei-share-market-brent-crude-dollar-index-216390">frontline indices</a> along with the stock of the IT major's large-cap peer Infosys. The TCS stock dropped by as much as Rs&nbsp;88.7 or 2.7 per cent to Rs&nbsp;3,231 apiece on BSE, a day after the country's largest IT services firm reported a&nbsp;mixed set of quarterly results.&nbsp;&nbsp;

After market hours on Monday, TCS reported a net profit for the October-December period that was lower than analysts' estimates, though its revenue exceeded the estimates. &nbsp;

TCS reported a quarter-on-quarter increase of&nbsp;four per cent in net profit to Rs 10,846 crore for the three-month period.&nbsp;

The IT giant's quarterly revenue rose 5.3 per cent sequentially to Rs 58,229 crore.&nbsp;

According to Zee Business research, TCS was estimated to report a quarterly net profit of Rs 11,270 crore and revenue of&nbsp;Rs 57,280 crore.&nbsp;

TCS&nbsp;CEO Rajesh Gopinathan said its strong growth in a seasonally weak quarter was driven by Cloud services, market share gains through vendor consolidation, and continued momentum in North America and the UK.

Technical analyst Nilesh Jain warned of profit booking in Tata Consultancy Services shares as the company's quarterly results, in his view, did not meet market expectations.&nbsp;

He suggests avoiding the large-cap IT space at the current juncture. Investors must focus on mid-cap and small-cap stocks in the sector, said Jain,&nbsp;Assistant Vice President-Lead Derivative and Technical Research at Centrum Broking.&nbsp;

He likes stocks such as Firstsource Solutions, KPIT Tech and L&amp;T Tech Services. &nbsp;

Jain expects pressure in the Nifty IT index ahead.&nbsp;The index has been seeing a lower top lower bottom formation on the technical charts and has been one of the biggest laggards of 2022, the Centrum Broking analyst pointed out.&nbsp;&nbsp;

One can expect a pullback in the sector but no major upside in the sector over the near term, he said.&nbsp;

What to do with TCS shares now

Sandeep Wagle, CEO of Sandeep Wagle Advisory Services, sees important support for TCS shares at Rs 3,200, a level he said that the stock is likely to continue to hold three weeks running.&nbsp;

There will be buying opportunities around this level, though the upside remains limited, Wagle said.&nbsp;&nbsp;

CLSA maintained an ‘outperform’ rating on TCS shares and raised its price target to Rs 3,550 from Rs 3,500.&nbsp;&nbsp;The brokerage's recommendation for TCS came at the market price of Rs 3,320.&nbsp;

<h2>Here are 10 key things to know about the January 10 session:&nbsp;</h2>

1) Both headline indices reversed initial gains soon after a positive start and stayed under pressure throughout the session. The Sensex lost&nbsp;631.8 points to end at&nbsp;60,115.5 and the Nifty50 settled at 17,914.2, having shed 187.1 points for the day. The main indices fell as much as 1.4 per cent in intraday trade before recovering some of those losses by the closing bell.&nbsp;

2) Adani Enterprises, Bharti Airtel, Eicher Motors, Adani Ports, SBI, HDFC Bank, UltraTech and Bajaj Finance were the top laggards, closing between 1.5 per cent and 5.7 per cent lower. On the other hand, Tata Motors, Apollo Hospitals, Hindalco, PowerGrid, Divi's and IndusInd -- declining between one per cent and 5.9 per cent -- rose the most among blue-chip stocks.

3) Reliance, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank were the biggest drags on both Sensex and Nifty50, accounting for more than 300 points in the fall in Sensex.

4) Barring the Nifty Auto and the Nifty Healthcare, which finished 0.3 per cent and 0.1 per cent higher respectively, all of NSE's sectoral indices ended in the red.&nbsp;The Nifty PSU Bank was the worst hit, falling 2.7 per cent for the day. The Nifty Bank closed with a cut of 1.4 per cent.

5) The Nifty IT -- whose 10 constituents include TCS, Infosys and Wipro -- finished 0.9 per cent lower. TCS ended lower by Rs 33.5 or one per cent at Rs 3,286.2 apiece on BSE.

6) Overall market breadth turned negative from neutral during the course of the day, with an advance-decline ratio of 2:3 as&nbsp;1,427 stocks rose and 2,094 fell at the close on BSE.

7)&nbsp;Analysts await a speech by Fed Chairman Jerome Powell scheduled later in the day for clues on the path of rate hikes in the world's largest economy.

The 50-stock Nifty50 traded in a 205 point range after opening with a gap up while Sensex moved in a 742 point range. Both benchmark indices ended their three-day losing streak.&nbsp;

The market breadth in was skewed in favour of gainers. On Nifty50, 43 stocks gained while 7 declined. The top gainers were Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, SBI Life, IndusInd Bank, TCS and HCL Technologies while the top losers were&nbsp;Titan Company, Bajaj Finserv, Grasim Industries, Bajaj Auto and HDFC Life.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Positive action was seen in all Nifty sectoral indices but one -&nbsp;Nifty Consumer Durables, which fell&nbsp;nearly 0.5 per cent. The top performers were Nifty IT (+2.83 per cent), Nifty Metal (+1.43 per cent) and Nifty Auto&nbsp;(+1.23 per cent). Banking gauge Nifty Bank ended at&nbsp;42,582.75, up&nbsp;0.93 per cent or nearly 400 points.

Broader markets moved in tandem with frontline indices Sensex and Nifty. In the 100-stock Nifty Mid Cap 100, 74 stocks advanced helping the index take a 296 point lead over the previous closing. It ended at&nbsp;31,716.65, up 0.94 per cent. The top gainers were L&amp;T Finance Holdings, Max Health and Persistent Systems while the top losers were Vodafone Idea, Trent and Hindustan Petroleum.&nbsp;

The rupee gained 29 paise to close at 82.37 (provisional) against the US dollar on Monday, supported by a weaker greenback overseas and a firm trend in domestic equities. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 82.41 and touched an intra-day high of 82.25 and a low of 82.44 against the greenback. It finally ended at 82.37 (provisional), registering a rise of 29 paise over its previous close.

Closing Bell: Sensex, Nifty end with bang amid fervent buying across sectors; IT hogs limelight, metals shine

Stock Market HIGHLIGHTS:&nbsp;Indian equity benchmarks S&amp;P BSE Sensex&nbsp;and NSE Nifty50 saw strong gains on Monday catapulted by&nbsp;surge in <a href="https://www.zeebiz.com/market-news/live-updates-tcs-results-q3-live-share-price-tata-consultancy-services-attrition-profit-dollar-revenue-margin-ceo-rajesh-gopinathan-commentary-216243">TCS</a> which is set to announce its October-December Quarter results today. The 30-scrip index ended&nbsp;60,747.31&nbsp;points or 1.41 per cent higher at 60,747.31 while the broader market&nbsp;Nifty50 finished at 18,101.20, up 241 points or 1.35 per cent from its previous closing.&nbsp;

Key takeaways from day's action:

1) The 50-stock Nifty50 traded in a 205 point range after opening with a gap up while Sensex moved in a 742 point range. Both benchmark indices ended their three-day losing streak.&nbsp;

2) The market breadth in was skewed in favour of gainers. On Nifty50, 43 stocks gained while 7 declined. The top gainers were Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, SBI Life, IndusInd Bank, TCS and HCL Technologies while the top losers were <a href="https://www.zeebiz.com/market-news/news-titan-share-price-nse-bse-q3fy23-third-quarter-results-kalyan-jewellers-news-ex-date-record-date-price-target-latest-update-216255">Titan Company</a>, Bajaj Finserv, Grasim Industries, Bajaj Auto and HDFC Life.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

3) Positive action was seen in all Nifty sectoral indices but one - <a href="https://www.nseindia.com/market-data/live-equity-market?symbol=NIFTY%20CONSUMER%20DURABLES">Nifty Consumer Durables</a>, which fell&nbsp;nearly 0.5 per cent. The top performers were Nifty IT (+2.83 per cent), Nifty Metal (+1.43 per cent) and Nifty Auto&nbsp;(+1.23 per cent). Banking gauge Nifty Bank ended at&nbsp;42,582.75, up&nbsp;0.93 per cent or nearly 400 points.

4) India VIX, a measure of volatility in Nifty ended 2.47 per cent lower at 14.65.

5) Broader markets moved in tandem with frontline indices Sensex and Nifty. In the 100-stock Nifty Mid Cap 100, 74 stocks advanced helping the index take a 296 point lead over the previous closing. It ended at&nbsp;31,716.65, up 0.94 per cent. The top gainers were L&amp;T Finance Holdings, Max Health and Persistent Systems while the top losers were Vodafone Idea, Trent and Hindustan Petroleum.&nbsp;

6) In the Nifty Small Cap 100, advances were&nbsp;67, declines were 32 and 1 stock exchanged. The top gainers were KEC International, Aether and Intellect Design Arena while biggest losers were Chemplast, Praj Industries and Renuka Sugars.&nbsp;

7) Out of&nbsp;3,799 stocks that traded on the BSE,&nbsp;2,044 advanced, 1,585 declined while 170 remained unchanged. 149 stocks hit their 52-week highs while 42 fell at 52-week lows. Reliance Industries, Infosys and TCS triggered a strong rally in Sensex.

8) The rupee gained 29 paise to close at 82.37 (provisional) against the US dollar on Monday, supported by a weaker greenback overseas and a firm trend in domestic equities. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened at 82.41 and touched an intra-day high of 82.25 and a low of 82.44 against the greenback. It finally ended at 82.37 (provisional), registering a rise of 29 paise over its previous close. 
On Friday, the rupee settled at 82.66 against the dollar. The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, declined 0.24 per cent to 103.62. PTI

9) SGX Nifty was trading at 18,173, up 214 points or 1.19 per cent at the time of filing this report. Dow Futures were trading at 33,716, up 85.40 points or 0.25 per cent. Earlier today, China's Shanghai Composite closed at 3,176.08, up&nbsp;18.45 points or 0.58 per cent. Japan's Nikkei was shut for trading today. Germany's Dax was trading at&nbsp;14,650.40, up&nbsp;40.36 points or 0.28 per cent.&nbsp;

10) Dollar Index's declines were gainers for gold and silver. The prices of bullion were up in international and Indian markets. February Gold futures were trading at Rs&nbsp;56035&nbsp;per 10 gram on MCX and were up by Rs&nbsp;292&nbsp;or&nbsp;0.52 per cent. March Silver futures were trading at Rs&nbsp;69475 per kg and were higher by Rs 320 or&nbsp;0.46 per cent.&nbsp;

Stock Market HIGHLIGHTS: Bulls rejoice on TCS surge; Sensex ends 840 points up, Nifty above 18,100

Indian equity markets ended Friday in the red, recording their third consecutive losses in the week. S&amp;P BSE Sensex ended at 59,900.37, down 453 points or 0.75 per cent while the broader market Nifty50 settled at 17,859.45, lower by 132 points or 0.74 per cent. Banking gauge Nifty Bank finished 419 points or 0.99 per cent lower at 42,188.80.

Losses in financial and IT stocks including the likes of ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, TCS and Infosys were the biggest contributors to the fall in headline indices.

Nifty FMCG and Nifty Consumer Durables ended with minor gains among Nifty sectoral Indices. Out of 15 indices, 13 closed in the red. The worst performers were Nifty IT (-2 per cent), Nifty Media (-1.45 per cent) and Nifty Private Bank (-1.12 per cent).

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 1,449.45 crore, according to exchange data, PTI reported.

The rupee pared initial gains and settled 9 paise lower at 82.71 (provisional) against the US dollar on Friday, tracking a rebound in the greenback overseas and a muted trend in domestic equities. Forex traders said risk aversion in international markets and sustained foreign fund outflows weighed on investor sentiments, even as weak crude oil prices cushioned the downside.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened on a positive note at 82.52 against the greenback, but pared the gains and fell to an intra-day low of 82.75.

The domestic currency finally settled at 82.71, down 9 paise over its previous close of 82.62.

The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading 0.37 per cent higher at 105.42.

Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures rose 0.74 per cent to USD 79.27 per barrel.

Indian Equities fell by 0.75 per cent as recession concerns kept buying of risk assets at bay, Anil Kumar Bhansali, Head of Treasury at Finrex Treasury Advisors LLP said. "Rupee fell in line but is expected to be in a range of 82.40 to 82.90 tomorrow as markets await for NFPR today evening," he added.

Out of 3,638 that traded on BSE 1,424 advanced, 2,084 stocks declined while 130 remained unchanged.
