Now, Indian Railways Bullet Train runs into more problems

On May 16, the farmers of Diva staged a symbolic two-hour protest in front of the District Collectorate Thane against bullet train project. Refusing to take political support, the farmers said that this is just the beginning of their protest to ensure that they do not lose their lands and gaothans to fulfill somebody else’s dream.

The NHSRCL spokesperson, Dhananjay Kumar, told PTI, "We want cordial relations with and support from the people who will be affected by this gigantic project. Therefore, our officials will hold meeting with PAPs at public places and, over tea, discuss facts about the project." Kumar said that these talks were meant to sensitise the people about the project, thereby, making land acquisition for the project easier for the company and acceptable to the PAPs. He added, "This 'chai pe charcha' will win their confidence and help us get them emotionally involved in it."

For passengers’ safety, a special general inspection train will reportedly ply on the tracks once in 10 days to check the tracks, and a block between 12.00am and 6.00am will be operated every day so that the trains will run only after its safety confirmation nod. It may be noted that Surat will have a depot for assembling the parts of the train and testing it on the tracks. Meanwhile, land acquisition is still a matter of concern for NHSRCL.
