Income Tax: ITR filing deadline extended till August 5
If you have not filed ITR today, then don't worry, you can file it till August 5, 2017.
On the last day of Income Tax Return (ITR) filing day, the Income Tax Department has extended of deadline by one week due to technical reasons. The last date for filing is ITR was July 31, 2017.
Which means, if you have not filed ITR today, then don't worry, you can file it till August 5, 2017.
In a tweet, I-T department said, "In view of the difficulties faced by taxpayers, date for filing of Income Tax Returns for FY 2016-17 has been extended to 5th August, 2017."

CBDT has announced the new dates after the approval from Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
Before the announcement, Revenue Secretary and CBDT Heads held a meeting to decide on ITR extension.
Since yesterday, the taxpayers have been facing problem while filing ITR. Today being the last date, there has been massive rush on every portal sanctioned by the Income Tax Department.
On Sunday many citizen started tweeting with @IncomeTaxIndia with their queries and asking to extend the deadline.
However, yesterday the tax officials said that there will not be any extension.
