BHEL bags Rs 2,800-cr order for power project in Maharashtra
State-run power equipment maker BHEL today said it has won a Rs 2,800 crore contract for 660 MW supercritical thermal power project in Maharashtra. It will be set up as an expansion project of Maharashtra State Power Generation Company's (MAHAGENCO) Bhusawal Thermal Power Station in Jalgaon district, BHEL said in a BSE filing. BHEL's scope of work for this brownfield expansion project includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of 1X660 MW supercritical coal-based thermal set and civil works. It said the 1,420 MW Bhusawal TPS(thermal power station) is equipped with 2 sets each of 210 MW and 500 MW ratings. The key equipment for the contract will be manufactured at BHEL's Trichy, Haridwar, Bhopal, Ranipet, Hyderabad, Jhansi, Thirumayem and Bengaluru plants while the company's power sector - western region shall be responsible for civil works and erection and commissioning of the equipment, the company said. BHEL said it has a longstanding partnership with MAHAGENCO and has a significant share of 81 per cent in the coal-based power stations installed in the state by the utility. The company is the market leader in both subcritical as well as supercritical segments in the country.

BHEL commissions 250 MW thermal power unit in Bihar
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has said that it has successfully commissioned a 250 MW thermal power unit in Bihar. The unit has been commissioned at Barauni Extension thermal power project of Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited. Located at Barauni in Begusarai district of Bihar, Barauni Extension power project has two units (Units 8&9) of 250 MW each. The other unit (Unit 9) is also in advanced stages of execution and is expected to be commissioned shortly. The project was awarded to BHEL on Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis, including complete engineering, manufacturing and supply of equipment; erection & commissioning and civil works of all the plant utilities. Major equipment for the project has been manufactured by BHEL at its Haridwar, Trichy, Bhopal, Ranipet, Hyderabad, Jhansi and Bengaluru plants, while the construction of the plant has been undertaken by the company's Power Sector - Eastern Region. Meanwhile, shares of the company were trading at Rs 102.70 apiece, down 0.53 per cent from the previous close at 14:09 hours on BSE.

BHEL is the largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India in the energy -related/infrastructure sector. BHEL manufactures over 180 products under 30 major product groups and caters to core sectors of the Indian Economy viz., Power Generation & Transmission, Industry, Transportation, Telecommunication, Renewable Energy, etc. 1972 - In July the Operations of all the four plants were integrated. 1974 - In January Heavy electrical (India) Ltd was merged with BHEL. - For the manufacture of a wide variety of products, the company has developed technological infrastructure, skills and quality to meet the stringent requirements of the power plants, transportation, petro chemicals, oil etc. - BHEL has entered into collaboration which are technical in nature. Under these agreements, the collaborators have transferred, furnished the information, documentation, including know-how relating to design, engineering, manufacturing assembly etc. 1982 - BHEL also entered into power equipments, to reduce its dependence on the power sector.
