7th Pay Commission: The recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission report for employees and pensioners of the central government has been implemented, but over 48 lakh staff is still waiting for a hike in their salary as well as fitment factor beyond the recommendations as the same has been promised by several Union ministers including Finance Minister and Home Minister. This pay hike demand is not limited to the Central government staff, it has also encouraged state government employees to raise their voice for pay hike. 1.As many as 7,500 government employees' protest march in Tamil Nadu was thwarted by the police on Tuesday. Among the key demands of the government employees were payment of 21-month arrears as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, rectifying pay anomalies for employees and reverting to old pension scheme. 2.Delhi government's alleged delay in the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission's recommendations in private unaided schools is causing hardships to students, teachers, and parents, said an appeal made by a private unaided schools association to the Delhi High Court. 3.Indian Railway employees' union has been waiting for long for the Centre to take a favourable decision on their list of demands over salaries. That has not happened yet and now this has led to a call for action by the staff's union.
