7th Pay Commission: As fitment factor hike hangs fire, here is some great news for these employees

Even as 7th Pay commission salary hikes announcement is being awaited by government employees, some others have received good news. Jammu and Kashmir-based SMVDU has increased the retirement age of teachers to 65 years.

The decision of SMVDU teachers retirement age limit extension was taken by the university's council. Notably, to ensure its state governemnt employees get the most benefits possible, Madhya Pradesh govt had raised their retirement age.

Governor N N Vohra said the SMVDU decision was taken to attract well-known teachers to serve the university.

SMVDU council also decided to grant children education allowance and performance-linked awards to the faculty.

Notably, after the Madhya Pradesh govt move the ball is now in the Centre's court about whether it will want to raise central government employees retirement age. This can be in lieu of the 7th pay commission fitment factor hike.

Nearly 48 lakh central government employees are demanding a fitment factor hike of 3.68 times with minimum pay scale of Rs 26,000.
