Till now, Indian Railways used to allot the seat number as soon as ticket is confirmed.

However, from now, the passenger will get just a "CNF" message on the confirmed ticket. And, the berth number will be allotted only four hours before the departure time of the train, the source said.

This new move will first be implemented on Rajdhani trains, the source added.

"Despite having lower berth quota reserved only for women and senior citizens, TT usually allot the seats to other passengers in case of vacancy. Hence, creating trouble for women and senior citizen passengers as they have to travel in middle or upper berths," the source said.

Moreover, as per the source, Indian Railways is planning to implement this rule within two months.
