Gold Box Office Collection Day 2: Akshay Kumar starrer rakes in Rs 8 crore
Gold box office collection day 2: On the occasion of Independence Day, two big films Gold and Satyameva Jayate released in theatres. Akshay Kumar starrer Gold went on to earn Rs 25.25 crore on opening day, which the highest ever opening day collection for the actor and it has grabbed another Rs 8 crore on the second day, which makes the total collection of Rs 33.25 crore and this is so even as the weekend is looming. The extended weekend for both these movies is massively long indeed!
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “After a big holiday [#IndependenceDay] on Wed, it was the regular working day on Thu... #Gold and #SatyamevaJayate took a hit on Day 2, since biz, generally, witnesses a decline after a holiday... Growth in biz is most crucial at this stage [Fri to Sun]...”
Taran Adarsh also predicted that the movie will gain the momentum during the weekends. In this movie, Akshay Kumar plays the role of a hockey coach Tapan Das. The film rolls around Kumar who trains team India to win its first gold medal as a free nation at the 1948 Summer Olympics.
With the weekend looming, Gold collection is going to get a massive massive push. Add to that a favourable word of mouth boost and we are easily looking at a Rs 60 crore plus extended opening weekend take even at conservative estimates! However, before that happens, Gold will have to ensure it retains a lead over Satyameva Jayate going forward.
